At York Central Hospital, we believe that support from family and friends can
positively infl uence the healing process. Visitors are welcome in accordance
with the wishes of the patient. Please respect the privacy, comfort and care of
all patients on the unit. We may ask visitors to wait in the lounge while patients
receive personal and/or medical care.
Visiting hours vary depending on the unit. If you are visiting a patient and currently
are suffering from a cold, fl u or are feeling unwell, please consider visiting at
another time. Your illness could be transmitted to one of our patients.
- General Visiting Hours: 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week. Children
under 12 are permitted to visit if accompanied and supervised by an adult
family member. Please limit visitors to no more than two visitors at the bedside
at a time.
- Intensive Care Unit: Visitation in the ICU is subject to the patient’s condition.
We encourage no more than two visitors at a time to allow the patient to
rest. Visiting is encouraged between 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., with no visiting
between 7:00-8:00 p.m. There may be times where visits are limited due to
the patient having a procedure, test, etc. There is a telephone located on
the Volunteer Desk outside the ICU. Please pick up the telephone at the
Volunteers Desk to gain access to the ICU.
- Maternity: 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a
week. Partners and supervised siblings can visit at any time.
- Paediatrics: One parent of hospitalized children may stay at all times.
Other visitors should follow the general visiting hours. Only parents and
grandparents may visit children who are in isolation.
- Mental Health (inpatient): Weekdays 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and weekends
and holidays 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
