York Central Hospital Receives $9.7 million Increase in Annual Operating Funds

Thornhill MPP Mario G. Racco shared the news that York Central Hospital will receive a $9.7 million increase over last year’s annual operating budget as per our 2007/08 Hospital Accountability Agreement (HAA). This represents 7.6 percent increase in operating funds for York Central Hospital as compared to the 3.7 percent increase received by most Ontario hospitals. According to MPP Racco, the additional funding was provided in recognition of the significant challenges faced by York Central in providing healthcare services for one of Canada’s fastest growing communities.

York Central Hospital’s Board of Trustees recently approved a proposal for York Central Hospital to move forward in working with a local developer on the design and construction of a new Health Care Centre located at the northeast corner of Rutherford Road and Melville Avenue in Vaughan. Total Joint Assessment Centre Opening

The Honourable George Smitherman, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, today celebrated new partnerships that have created innovative solutions to wait times for hip and knee replacement. The Total Joint Assessment Centre (TJAC), located at North York General Hospital's Branson Site, is a new model of care delivery, which evolved through collaborations among four hospitals to reduce wait times and improve outcomes.
