Earlier today, York Central Hospital unveiled its new Town of Richmond Hill Wing named in honor of the Town’s $10 million donation in support of enhanced patient care.

Grand Opening Celebration of the D Wing – Town of Richmond Hill at York Central Hospital
The D Wing – Town of Richmond HillPlease join us for the Official Opening Celebration for the D Wing – Town of Richmond Hill on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in our newly completed Berwick Family Auditorium.  The ceremony will feature local dignitaries, special guests and we will also honor the Town of Richmond Hill and a number of other major donors whose generosity have helped to fund this new wing.
Grand Opening Ceremony - from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Guided Tours - from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Guided tours of our new Critical Care Unit and Medicine Unit will be available during the reception following the ceremony from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m.   Although a number of other facilities will open in the coming months, this will be the largest touring opportunity leading to the completion of Phase One of our major expansion and redevelopment later this spring.

Highlights of the new D Wing – Town of Richmond Hill include:
• New and expanded Emergency Department
• New and expanded Intensive Care Unit
• New Medicine Patient Care Unit
• New and expanded home of the York Region Chronic Kidney Disease Program

Location: The Berwick Family Auditorium, Level 1, York Central Hospital, 10 Trench Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario. Please park in the North Visitor Parking Lot and enter the new wing via the entrance close to the Emergency Department.

Over the past year, York Central Hospital celebrated the opening of a number of long awaited facilities including the partial opening of our new and expanded Emergency Department, the opening of a new Breast Health Centre, and most recently a new and enhanced home for our Chronic Kidney Disease Program.  As we look ahead to the New Year, there are many more exciting additions to come leading to the completion of Phase One by summer of 2009, including new state-of-the-art Critical Care, Mental Health, Medicine and Medical Imaging facilities.

The Chronic Kidney Disease Program moved into the North Wing in mid-November 2008. Pictured above, is a preview of the space before the move. This bright and spacious location will provide a more welcoming and private space for patients to receive education, on-going support as well as their dialysis treatments.
