Grocery Stores Gives Back to Community Hospital
Joe Greco, owner/operator Concord Food Centre and Oak Ridges Food Market, has changed lives with his recent financial sponsorship of medical rehab
equipment at York Central Hospital. “Patients recovering from hip and knee replacement surgeries and traumas such as car accidents will benefit from improved rehabilitation facilities,” said
Bill Leacy, President and CEO, York Central Hospital Foundation.
The 1,160 square foot rehabilitation gymnasium is integral to the newly opened Integrated Orthopeadic Patient Care Unit located on the fourth floor of the Town of Richmond Hill Wing.
These new facilities, unveiled on April 13, 2010 with members of the Greco Family present, will complement the extraordinary skills of York Central’s dedicated medical team as they continue to deliver expert and compassionate care to the hospital’s patients.
York Central is one of only three hospitals in the province with designated orthopeadic rehabilitation beds.
Rehabilitation services include counselling and training programs that enable patients to identify and adapt to altered life circumstances that may impact mobility, communication and self-care activities.
Patients and their families work closely with York Central Hospital’s rehabilitation team to establish personal goals that promote independence such as dressing, bathing, toileting, leisure activities and mobilization.
